(Under development for launch on 1-Sep)

A safe, friendly after-school space for children aged 8–13.
BASH gives children in Beckington a calm place to land after school — somewhere to unwind, play and connect — while giving parents confidence that their child is safe, known and well looked after.
The hub is particularly suited to children aged 8–13 who travel home via the Beckington bus stop. Beckington Memorial Hall (TBC) is an easy and familiar walk from there, making BASH a practical option at the end of the school day.

What happens at BASH
Sessions are designed to be calm, sociable and well supervised.
Children begin with simple activities such as table tennis, table football, skittles and board games, helping them settle quickly and play alongside others. Alongside this, play-led exploration supports curiosity, shared problem-solving and confidence.
A counsellor from Focus Counselling will be available for private conversations on request.
When the weather permits, sessions may also include games and sport outside, allowing children to move, reset after the school day and enjoy being active together.
All activities are supervised, and new activities are only introduced when we are confident they can be run safely and well.

Acceptance is at our sole discretion. While we aim to welcome everyone, there may be situations where we are not equipped to meet a young person’s needs.
What’s coming next
BASH will develop slowly and thoughtfully.
As the hub becomes established, we expect to expand play and exploration opportunities and make greater use of outdoor space, always guided by the needs of the children and the availability of appropriate supervision.
We only add activities when the right systems, people and oversight are in place.
Safeguarding and standards
Beckington After-School Hub operates with clear safeguarding arrangements, suitable supervision, accurate record-keeping, and regular review, in line with recognised standards and best practice.
Registration (ChurchSuite)
Registration, attendance and parent consent are managed using ChurchSuite.
This allows parents to:
• register their child in advance
• complete consent forms
• see which sessions their child is attending
• know who is responsible for each session
• receive clear and consistent communication
Registration and consent are managed via ChurchSuite:

Ofsted and Funding
We intend to apply for approval with Ofsted as the hub becomes established. Our aim is to meet recognised standards and, in time, enable eligible childcare payment options or tokens to be used where applicable.
To support the launch and early development of BASH, we will also be applying to the local council for funding so the hub can grow sustainably without compromising safety or quality.
Who runs BASH
BASH is run by local volunteers and sits within the wider work of the Beckington Benefice.
It is supported by members of the team that produces Network magazine, with long-standing experience of safeguarding, organisation and community trust.
BASH is endorsed by the Diocese of Bath and Wells and the Reverend Jo Robinson.
The hub has been shaped with guidance from Jason Prentice of Super Pirates, and informed by learning from Fergus Stewart at Youth Space.
In short
• A carefully planned after-school hub for ages 8–13
• Consultation before launch
• Interest checked with families and volunteers first
• Easy walk from the Beckington bus stop
• Clear safeguarding and record-keeping
• Registration and consent via ChurchSuite
If you have questions or would like to be part of the conversation at this stage, we’d be very happy to hear from you.
BASH is about doing something simple, well — and doing it together.
