Connecting

We long to be a people who are fed by God’s word in scripture and open to the transforming working of the Holy Spirit: people who are distinctively different through our faith but who connect well, sharing the love that God has shared with us on to our communities, as a transforming Christian presence. We have a vision to connect with those in need and to connect them with the help that they need: one churchwarden had a picture of an old-fashioned telephone switchboard. Our vision is also to connect more with our communities and to encourage positive connections within them. The village survey in Beckington, for example, highlighted the feeling of a loss of connection in the community with the building of many new homes and with fewer people apparently willing to volunteer for and lead community organisations. Encouragingly, they also saw the church as both a very important presence and one that could have a very positive influence in connecting the community. We recognise the limitations of our own resources for this but believe that with God’s help we can bring hope to individuals and enrich community life.
