Surveying school heads and pupils during our vacancy revealed that they really value the link with a Priest in charge and the teams and individuals who have previously gone into schools, including ‘Open the Book’, assemblies, shared services and the previous Beckington initiative of interactive Easter and Christmas Journeys, running over several days. The pupils want more of everything: ‘more Bible’ and Bible stories, more time with the vicar and other Christians, more time in church, more responsibility and more opportunity to ask questions, etc.! We lost some members of these teams at the time of our last appointment but we see the renewal and strengthening of these links post-pandemic as a wonderful opportunity and an important priority.
