Being a transforming Christian presence in our community
We are a group of five rural and semi-rural parishes situated around the edge of the lively market town of Frome, Somerset. We have a growing unity and sense of purpose.

Our Vision
Our vision is to increase our connection with the communities which we serve, working together and in unity to share the love of God in practical ways and to share his good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that the future thriving of our benefice and our ability to be a transforming Christian presence in our communities.
We have very good relationships with the schools in our parishes, who welcome our involvement, and there is a huge opportunity to reach children and their families through working together.
We also have a vision to share our resources and work in new ways across the benefice to lighten the administrative burden of church officers and clergy and free us all to engage fruitfully with others.

We Are
A strong lay team sustains the life and ministry of the benefice.
Each church within the group has their own distinct ministry.
We embrace a number of different styles of worship. You will find the full range of services using the Book of Common Prayer which includes Matins, Communion and Evensong. We enjoy robed communion services using Common Worship and informal services of Morning Worship and are currently planning a creative evening service once a month.
We have all embraced the challenge to make our churchyards places to encourage wildlife, in our rural setting.
There are many friendships between members of the different churches, and we are continuing to look for opportunities to strengthen relationships within the Group.
We are seeking to forge links with the wider community, including closer engagement with our three schools. Members of our churches are foundation Governors
We would like to do more to take the love of God into our communities, where there are challenging new opportunities among the many recently built homes in Beckington and the large new estate: Edmund Park in Rodden. The latter is an opportunity and challenge to all of us not only in the benefice but also in the deanery as a whole.
We are a “work in progress”

We Seek
We reflect and celebrate the distinctiveness and diversity of rural ministry and look forward to a full-time Priest in charge with a passion for rural ministry and connecting with the community: someone with a desire to see the Bible taught and disciples grow, who will respect and enjoy our diverse patterns of worship and lead us in our mission to connect with and bless the wider community.
During successive vacancies we have learned to look after ourselves and encourage lay gifts and ministries, but also recognise our need for a leader and Priest in charge to offer vision, spiritual direction, encouragement and oversight.
We are well aware of the scale of the task and pressures on clergy and we want to work in partnership, sharing the load and working to lighten the administrative burdens, as above, so that we and our vicar can be ‘out and about’, in ministry and mission.
We have an established network of house groups and experienced group facilitators. We have in previous years successively organised and run benefice away-days and weekends.
We offer unity and enjoy being together, with strong relationships now across the benefice.
