Safeguarding Policy

Beckington After-School Hub (BASH) is committed to providing a safe, welcoming environment where children aged 8–13 are respected, valued and protected.

The welfare of every child is our highest priority.

BASH operates in line with UK safeguarding guidance for out-of-school settings and follows Church of England safeguarding principles.

What we do

• All volunteers working with children are safely recruited.

• Volunteers complete appropriate safeguarding checks, including DBS checks where required.

• Volunteers receive safeguarding guidance and know how to recognise signs of abuse or neglect.

• At least one trained safeguarding lead is present at every session.

• First aiders are present at sessions.

• Clear records are kept of attendance, incidents and concerns.

If a safeguarding concern arises

• Concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing are taken seriously.

• The Safeguarding Lead records concerns and follows appropriate safeguarding procedures.

• Where necessary, concerns will be referred to children’s services or the police.

Children are encouraged to speak to a trusted adult if they feel worried or unsafe.

Parents can contact the BASH safeguarding lead at any time regarding concerns.
