BASH (Beckington After School Hub) is open to all children in the community, regardless of background, belief or faith. Our aim is to provide a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space where children can relax after school, play together, build friendships and feel valued.
BASH is supported by volunteers from the local community, some of whom are motivated by their Christian faith. The values that guide the way we run BASH include kindness, respect, honesty, service and care for others. These values shape how we treat the children and one another.
BASH is not a place where faith is promoted or imposed. Children will never be pressured to adopt any belief or to take part in religious activity. We respect the beliefs, traditions and convictions of every child and their family.
From time to time children may ask questions about faith, values or why volunteers believe what they do. When this happens, volunteers may respond honestly and simply, always in a way that is appropriate to the age of the child and respectful of the beliefs of others.
Our approach is guided by the principle expressed in 1 Peter 3:15 — to be ready to give a reason for the hope we have, but to do so with gentleness and respect.
In practice, this means that the character of BASH is expressed primarily through the way we behave: through patience, fairness, encouragement and care. Our goal is that every child who attends BASH feels safe, respected, included and welcome.
