Rodden Village is a mixed rural and urban parish on the eastern edge of Frome, with its church, All Saints’, in a beautiful setting alongside a farm and accessed down a farm track. The church is a popular stop off point for walkers, esepcially dog walkers. You will often bump into visitors sitting on one of the many benches around the church taking time out to simply be still and reflect in the stunning setting over looking rural Somerset to the backing track of a small babbling brook. It is well worth making the trip down to church at sunset. The expansion of new housing in the locality of Frome has seen developments within Rodden parish in the Wallbridge and Styles Hill areas. At present a new site, Edmund Park, is being built with a around 450 houses. A small chaplaincy team is working at developing links within the estate. The ministry on this significant new estate will be in partnership with many other churches in the Frome Area. There will be a new school on the housing site withn the next couple of years. Rodden is therefore part of a benefice with a signifcant schools ministry. As you walk into Rodden Church you quickly become aware of a very warm fellowship and a congregation that cares for one another. The church has enjoyed a long tradition of BCP worship and is currently meeting once a month for an Evening Service of BCP Communion and once a month for Evensong. |
